Kardashian Kollection

August 19th, 2011

Last night the Kardashian’s launched their Kardashian Kollection exclusively for Sears and Sweet E’s was on hand with kake pops, kupcakes and everything else Kardashian.

The launch party took place at one of Hollywood’s hottest nightclubs, Colony, where we piled in with our dessert table equipped with personalized Kardashian cupcakes, frosting cones and “K” cookies. Kourtney, Khloe and Kim were dressed to the nines wearing outfits from their kollectionKris stopped by our table to take a peak at our sweets and loved our personalized cupcakes!

A Very Berry Fundraiser

August 16th, 2011

A couple weeks ago Sweet E’s hosted the “Show Your Hearts” food truck fundraiser to raise money for the Berry Family. For those of you who don’t know, the family of five was driving home to Houston, Texas when their car collided head on with another car, killing parents Robin and Josh Berry. The Berry children, Peter (9), Aaron (8) and Willa (6), survived the fatal accident although both of the boys have since been declared paralyzed from the waist down (click here for more information). The tragic news has spread nationwide and has hit home for Sweet E herself as she attended the same synagogue back in Houston as the Berry’s. The story touched all of us here at Sweet E’s and we wanted to do anything to help so we put together an event to raise both money and awareness for the Berry kids.

With the help of Slammin Sliders, Buttermilk, NaanStop, Fry Smith, No Jodas and Komodo, we were able to raise $1,000 for the Berry family! So many people came from near and far to support the family and we couldn’t have asked for a better turn out.

Bath & Body Works + Sweet E’s = Gourmet Candles!

August 8th, 2011

Love sweets and the smell of sweets? If you answered yes to one or both of these questions, we have just the thing for you! Back in June Sweet E traveled to New York to be a guest judge for the MyCandleRecipe contest, hosted by Bath and Body Works and Slatkin & Co. The contest consisted of five aspiring bakers who put forth their best dessert recipe to which the winning three contestants desserts will be turned into a candle. Sweet E along with judges Harry Slatkin, Creator of Slatkin & Co., and Jeanine Guerrero, Givaudan Fragrance Expert, sampled each dessert and after much thought, selected Tim Ong of Houston, Texas with Strawberry Pistachio Delight,
Mary Shivers of Ada, Oklahoma with Tropical Tangerine Cake,
and Naylet La Rochelle of Miami, Florida with Maple Sticky Toffee Pudding. Now the expert judges are turning the decision over to YOU to select the winner who is most deserving of the ultimate grand prize – a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to join Harry Slatkin in New York City to watch as his or her dessert is turned into a gourmand candle. To watch exclusive cooking event footage and to vote for your favorite contestant, visit www.MyCandleRecipe.com.  In addition, five lucky voters will also win a year’s supply of Slatkin & Co. candles! Voting begins Wednesday, August 3rd and closes at Midnight on Tuesday, August 9th. Get your vote in before it’s too late!

The Berry Family

July 25th, 2011

In times of tragedy, people often find themselves asking why bad things happen to good people. Unfortunately, there is no explanation and so is the case with Robin and Josh Berry of Houston, Texas, who were killed in a head-on collision on July 2nd. The Berry’s were returning from a family outing with their three young children on July 2nd when their car collided with another car. The Berry children, Peter (9,) Aaron (8) and Willa (6) were immediately rushed to the hospital where it has since been determined that both Peter and Aaron are paralyzed from the waist down while Willa has suffered a broken arm and ankle. The children are now in custody of their uncle and legal guardian, Matt Berry, who is doing all he can to keep the kid’s lives as normal as possible. The story of the fatal accident has received media attention nationwide and athletes and celebrities alike have stopped by the hospital to pay a friendly visit to the Berry kids. Friends, family and complete strangers have come together to show their support for the Berry family.  Here at Sweet E’s, we want to do everything we can to spread the word about the Berry’s and help a family in need. Donations can be made to the Joshua and Robin Berry Children’s Trust online at www.theberrychildren.org or by mail to:

Sweet Style(s)

July 15th, 2011

How many Sweet E’s girls does it take to make a shirt? Three-one to design it, one to approve it and one to model it. If there is one thing that we here at Sweet E’s learned in college, it’s how to design a t-shirt (thanks to our sorority). And since one can never have too many t-shirts or tank tops, we would like to proudly introduce our new and improved Sweet E’s shirts and tanks brought to you by Active Duty Sportswear. Now you can show your love for Sweet E’s with a classic v-neck (available in black or white) or show off your tan in our trendy tank.

Going to a Dodger game? Wear your Sweet E’s tank!

Going to the Grove? Wear your Sweet E’s shirt!

And soon, we will be introducing the perfect accessory for a beach day-a Sweet E’s hat! Lasagna Mania!

June 7th, 2011

What’s better than homemade lasagna? Homemade lasagna made out of cake! Recently, Sweet E’s was approached by The Visionary Group to create a record- breaking 28-foot cake to resemble a lasagna for the grand opening of The Market, a delicious collection of shops and cafes, at Santa Monica Place. Since no task is too big for our team at Sweet E’s, we went straight to the drawing board to create the perfect lasagna cake.

There was no time to waste as a cake of this size would take days so our bakers went right to work! The actual noodles and basil leaves were made out of fondant while the marinara sauce was made from red velvet cake, red frosting and red chocolate chunks. The melted cheese on top was made of fondant and chocolate which was airbrushed to look yellow. After 72 hours, the cake was complete weighing in at 150 pounds.

While creating the cake was somewhat of a challenge, the real challenge was how it was going to be transported. Luckily for us, the Sweet E’s Mobile came to the rescue and allowed us to break the cake into six pieces-4 pieces that were five feet long and two pieces that were three and a half feet long.

Our excellent bakers were on location bright and early to assemble the cake while hundreds of people gathered to watch the official cake cutting of The Market before consuming the delectable cake.

We have officially submitted the cake to the Guinness Book of World Records and hope to be a part of history in the very near future!
